About Tony Favarula

I grew up in a small town in Eastern Ohio.  As a kid I was into slightly offbeat sports like Karate, Japanese swordsmanship, and road biking.   Whenever I had the time, I’d spend the whole day riding my bike and then ask my mom to drive the route afterward just to see how far I’d gone.

After high school, I headed to a small college to study Archaeology and Japanese Language and Culture.  Archaeology turned out not to be my thing, but I discovered a passion for learning about people and cultures. That’s when I picked up a camera. I took every photography course my college offered (all two of them) and quickly realized that photography was my ticket to exploring the world in a whole new way.

I traveled the country for several months living out of my car and somehow ended up in Los Angeles.  I spent the next few years working at a photo lab, making photographs, taking road trips, and backpacking the Eastern Sierras.

I met my wife, and we moved back to the Midwest, had some kids, rescued a couple of dogs, and I've been navigating the ever-changing world of commercial photography ever since.

My family’s everyday moments are my biggest inspiration when it comes to photography. I love capturing the way people interact with the world—whether it's in my backyard, on set, or wherever my travels take me. I bring that same vibe to my work, helping people feel comfortable in their surroundings so the whole process becomes a fun and exciting collaboration.

I’m all about capturing genuine, spontaneous moments sometimes quiet and contemplative other times full of energy and emotion—moments that speak to the range of human experience. I absolutely love what I do and feel lucky to work with so many amazing people.

Outside of work, I’m all about living life to the fullest. I’m always up for a road trip, love good food, and will ferment anything I can get my hands on.

And yeah, I still really love riding bikes!
